EBAA declares inaugural AirOps show a success

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has expressed satisfaction with the success of the inaugural edition of the AirOps Europe conference. The event was held at the Cannes Airport on 12 and 13 October and attracted about 400 visitors, according to Guillaume Lecompte-Boinet’s news article published at the AINonline website on 14 October 2016.

EBAA is satisfied with the turnout and the positive responses of the visitors who graced the event. Lecompte-Boinet quotes Brian Humphries, the EBAA president, as acknowledging: “We hoped for 300 visitors and in fact we had almost 400, so that was very positive.” As such, the event exceeded the expectations of the organisers considering that this was the first time it was being held with a view of creating a platform through which industry players can pursue common goals.

The conference attracted experts and professionals from across the business and private aviation value chain. As Lecompte-Boinet reports: “The event, which has some similarities with the annual NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers conference, drew around 30 exhibiting companies, including FBOs, fuel providers, ground-handling specialists, airports and aircraft operators.”

Participants were treated to learning sessions that mainly dwelled on the International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling (ISBAH), according to Lecompte-Boinet. This was an important topic for training because the ISBAH is one of the aviation industry’s most sought-after certifications. FBO operators and ground-handling service providers are particularly keen to acquire the certification.

The inaugural AirOps Europe conference also equipped participants with crucial skills for optimising efficiency and competency when marketing their businesses. Lecompte-Boinet reports that the conference also featured “speed dating”-style meetings which give companies the opportunity to make pitches for new partnerships and businesses.

Cannes is scheduled to host the second edition of the event on 20 and 21 September 2017. Organisers hope that the creation of this event will provide an ongoing platform through which companies can engage with their clients and pitch for new business opportunities.
