May 30, 2017
Waves Technologies has settled on the Cessna Grand Caravan EX as the preferred aircraft for the launch of its new air taxi service. “The aircraft is expected to be delivered in the next few months and will support the launch of Waves’ new on-demand, user-driven air taxi service for the Channel Islands,” according to a 25 May 2017 news article published at the European Business Air News (EBAN) website.
Waves is scheduled to debut its air taxi service in Guernsey in August. This decision provides the company with the opportunity to nurture a mutually beneficial collaboration with Textron Aviation. EBAN quotes Nick Magliocchetti, the CEO of Waves, as saying: “We are very excited to be working closely with Textron Aviation.”
Waves’ choice of the turboprop underscores the aircraft’s reliability as a utility jet in the private aviation industry. The Grand Caravan EX stands out as one of Textron Aviation’s versatile business jet aircraft. Magliocchetti is quoted by EBAN as adding: “The Grand Caravan EX is the perfect choice for our inter-island air taxi service, and the positive feedback it has received during our demos across the islands has been outstanding. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship together.”
The Grand Caravan EX is packaged to guarantee operational and logistical flexibility. For example, its unique design facilitates landing on short runways. EBAN quotes Tom Perry, Textron Aviation’s Vice President of Sales for Europe, as saying: “We are thrilled Waves has chosen the robust Grand Caravan EX platform to launch this exciting new air taxi service. We are confident that the Grand Caravan EX will provide Waves and its customers a dependable and comfortable experience with the aircraft’s ability to land on short runways, carry high payloads and take on nearly any mission with efficiency and simplicity.”
