NHV appoints new executive chairman
February 7, 2017
The NHV Group, in conjunction with its controlling shareholder Ardian, has announced the appointment of Dominique Lafont as the new executive chairman of the company, according to a 2 February 2017 news article from European Business Air News (EBAN). Prior to his elevation, Lafont held an independent member position on the Belgium-based rotary operator’s board, which he joined in 2015. His promotion officially ends outgoing chairman Pascal Colombani’s reign and dashes any expectation of an external recruitment for the position.
Lafont brings in a wealth of experience from his many years of service in the private aviation industry. He is particularly experienced in Africa’s transportation and business development spheres, according to the EBAN article.
NHV’s board cited the need to expedite the company’s planned expansion in Europe and Africa as the primary motivation for Lafont’s appointment. EBAN quotes NHV CEO Eric Van Hal as expressing: “I’m convinced that Dominique’s appointment will strengthen our team and help us to realise our ambitions for the future. His extensive business experience and intimate knowledge of Africa will be valuable asset for us and allow us to further bolster our presence both there and in Europe. At the same time, the board would like to express its deep gratitude towards Pascal for the significant contribution he has made to the development of the NHV Group during his tenure.”
On his part, Lafont is exuding confidence that he will successfully steer the company to its next phase of growth. EBAN quotes him as saying: “This is a great opportunity to participate in the next stage of growth for a company that has strong potential. I look forward to working alongside CEO Eric Van Hal, the management team and board, with the support of Ardian, in taking NHV forward.”
